Homeopathy for WomenWomen have an intricate hormonal system that changes cyclically every month. This subtle mechanism can malfunction, especially during the hormonal shifts in a woman's life. These hormonal shifts include menarche, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. Some women experience fibroids, ovarian cysts, and endometriosis. Generally, the only solutions offered in traditional medicine are artificial hormones or surgery. The menses is suppressed completely by artificial the hormones. Hormone replacement therapy, which has recently gained negative publicity, regulates menopausal symptoms, and in surgical procedures, fibroids are frequently removed entirely. The hysterectomy is still one of the top unnecessary surgeries performed in the US. Homeopathic care, and herbs can help many of the same conditions and symptoms that the traditional procedures seek to relieve. Here is a list of conditions that frequently respond to homeopathic and herbal remedies:
Tiredness, painful menses, and vertigo The following is a case, from my practice, with a client whose name and identity have been changed to preserve their privacy. I met Sophia about a year ago. She is a pretty, 33-year-old brunette, with beautiful dark eyes. When I saw her for the first time, her face was pale, and she had dark circles under her eyes. Sophia is a mother of two children. The younger one was about one year old when she first came to see me. Her chief complaint was that she was having digestive problems. When we talked for a while I found out that she felt very tired and experienced frequent spells of vertigo. She was tired all of the time, because she was working full-time, and taking care of two children. Her menses was very heavy, painful, and long. She would be extremely pale, tired, and felt very cold during her period. When I first saw her, she opted to use the Mirena IUD as a contraceptive in order to stop her periods. She noticed that her vertigo got worse when she began using Mirena. (I am usually worried for women who completely suppress their menses with Mirena, and since her vertigo got worse after the device was inserted, I was worried that Sophia was experiencing side effects of the IUD.) |
